Jean Bowen, 75, of Upland, Indiana, went to be with Jesus on September 6, 2017, after suffering from an acute stroke and other complications. A celebration of life service will be held at Upland Community Church on Tuesday, September 12 at 11 am.

Born in Seattle, WA, Jean relocated to the Midwest and attended Moody Bible Institute. She earned her B.S. in education from Greenville College and a M.A. in elementary school counseling from Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville.

She was married to Paul H. Bowen on August 10, 1963 and they recently celebrated their 54th anniversary. She spent her life serving alongside Paul in the ministry, with 30 years at the First Baptist Church of Greencastle, IN. Most recently she volunteered with Lift, an afterschool enrichment program for 2nd-4th graders.

She will be remembered for her faithfulness to the Lord, her gentle spirit, her beautiful smile, her love for her family, her heart for children, and her genuine interest in anyone who came into her life. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband, Paul, children Matt (Melanie) Bowen, Lisa (David) Ritchie and four grandchildren, Will and Kate Bowen, and Philip and Paul Ritchie.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Lift at www.lifteastbrook.com.

Arrangements entrusted to Indiana Funeral Care.
